On this page you will find information on the course catalogue and on module registration.
Course Catalogue
Each semester, you put together your own timetable by registering for the modules you would like to take. A link to the current course catalogue (AlmaWeb) can be found here.
When choosing your module, please note that the compulsory elective modules in Professor Hoffmann's Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes cannot be offered in the summer semester 2025 due to a research leave semester (‘Advanced Bioanalytical Methods and Applications’ (13-111-1163) and ‘Separation Methods and Modern “-omics” Techniques’ (13-121-1119)].
You find our current offer of classes in the course catalogue in AlmaWeb from mid July app.
Worshop “Good Scientific Practice”: This course is mandatory for taking a degree in M.Sc. Structural Chemistry and Spectroscopy. For further details please see below.
Course "Good Scientific Practice"
Every student on the Master's degree programme in Structural Chemistry and Spectroscopy is required to attend the one-day course "Good Scientific Practice" at some point in the course of their curriculum (preferably before starting their Master's thesis). The next course will take place all day on 7 October 2024. Registration is open in TOOL from 19 August 2024 (12:00 noon) until 25 August 2024 (12:59 pm). Students in the 1st semester of M.Sc. Module Registration
Deadlines
- 1 October 2024 12:00noon – 8 October 2024, 5pm
Please register for your modules online at TOOL.

Module Registration
When you register for a module you automatically sign up for the module examination. Only with a module registration you are admitted to take the module exam.
Module registration is a prerequisite for participation in classes. This is the only way you will receive important notifications from the lecturers and have access to the digitally provided materials of your modules.
If you registered for a module in past semesters and did not finish it, you cannot sign up for it again. You will automatically be registered for the next exam tries in that module.
As of 10 October 2024, the modules you successfully booked will be listed in you AlmaWeb account.
If you have any questions regarding module registration, you can use our contact form below.
Module registration for research practical courses (10 cp) - master programmes
On our website, you can search for a research group that suits your interests. Once you have made your choice, it is needed to contact the corresponding professor, asking if they would accept you for a research practical course. It can take some time for a professor to answer; therefore, take care of it at least one or two months before the desired starting date. After receiving a positive answer and discussing the details with the professor, it is required to submit a so-called “yellow sheet” ("Gelber Schein") to the Office of Study Affairs. Please send the completed "Gelber Schein" (subject, module number, date, signatures) to studienbuero[at]chemie.uni-leipzig.de. Detailed information and pre-requisites for research practical courses can be found on our respective webpage.
Deregistering from Modules
Regarding the modules you registered for in the winter semester 2024, you will have the opportunity to deregister from them incl. their exams electronically in AlmaWeb until 11 January 2025. Subsequent deregistration is not possible. The module and examination registration remains valid and you must take part in the examinations.
