Do you have problems in the course of your studies?

In the context of the Covid19 pandemic, exceptions have been made with regard to examinations and the course of studies at UL for the summer semester 2020, winter semester 2020/2021 and now also for summer term 2021. This concerns, for example, failed exams, the crediting of semesters and enrollment in the master's program.

  • Cancellation of failed examinations: Failed examination attempts (except in the case of cheating or violation of rules) will automatically be invalidated. The module registration remains intact and the examination procedure continues. Consequently, the student has the possibility to participate in further examination dates offered during the semester. This regulation also applies to the winter semester 2020/21, as well as the summer semester 2021.
  • Extension of the Standard Period of Study: This extension of the standard period of study will take effect for all students without the need to apply. Corresponding certificates of extension of the individual standard period of study will be uploaded to each student’s AlmaWeb account.

From now on, the presentation of a negative corona test result (1x per week) is mandatory in attendance courses (practical courses, research practical courses and final theses).

Test centers/pharmacies offering tests in Leipzig can be found here!

We ask you to please keep track of the current exam dates for the summer semester 2021. Furthermore, please pay attention to all announcements made by the lecturers!

From now on, up to June 30, 2021, exams in presence are not permitted (except internships).

The new regulations for the study programs of the Faculty of Chemistry and Mineralogy have been approved by the Rector’s Office. They will be published shortly under “Official Announcements of the UL” or here for the Bachelor's and Master's programs and the Teacher Training programs.

Please note that the provisions for alternative examinations, prerequisites for admission to examinations and practical courses in all modules apply as stated in these new regulations:

Annex Bachelor's and Master's degree programs
Annex Teacher Training programs
Annex Agreement for cooperation between disciplines

These documents are only available in german language. If you have problems understanding the annexes, please feel free to contact the office of study affairs.

Students who do not have a camera on their laptop or cell phone should please contact the person responsible for the module or Dr. Sina Gruschinski.

It is no longer necessary to sign the consent form. Before starting your written examination you may possibly have to confirm to your instructor that no unauthorized aids are being used and that you are taking the examination solely on your own.

Failed examinations (except in the case of cheating or violation of rules) will automatically be invalidated for the summer term 2021.

Qualification theses (bachelor and master theses, choice-obligatory practical courses) can be started or further worked-on and completed in consultation with the respective university teacher.
Application:
The application for theses can be made by naming the supervising Professor and sending an email to Mrs. Büttner (studienbuero[at]chemie.uni-leipzig.de). Please note that you should only use your student's e-mail address for this purpose.
After positive examination of the requirements for the application, the "green sheet" will be forwarded to you. This should be filled out and sent back to Ms. Büttner by e-mail.
The "yellow sheet" for application for choice-obligatory practical courses is available here. After signing it, please also send it to the Office of Study Affairs so that your registration and later your grade can be recorded.
Submission:
Bachelor's and Master's theses (not research practical courses) should be submitted in electronic form (PDF document) to the study office (studienbuero[at]chemie.uni-leipzig.de) and equally sent to the reviewers.
The submission in bound form is currently not necessary! However, if one of your reviewers would like a bound copy, please make an appointment with the study office for submission.
Please arrange the date for the defense (colloquium) with your supervisor and be sure to inform us of the date, time and room (or online).
Colloquia may not take place in presence, but only via video transmission. The first reviewer will take minutes of the colloquium and note the candidate's confirmation that he/she is physically able to undergo the colloquium.

Extension: Due to Corona, an extension of the deadline for advanced internships, master and bachelor theses by 4 weeks can be applied for. The prerequisite is that the thesis has been started in the winter semester 2020/21 orin the summer semester 2021 .
