There is an e-learning Moodle course for the practical course ‘Basic Operations’ and ‘Chemical Reaction Engineering’. Students doing the practical course should register for this course online. The registration is done with the passwords that were sent to you by e-mail. Within the course, there is access to the online experiments, access to learning materials, tests for preparation, the corresponding experiment notes, as well as the possibility to hand in the protocol online (follow the instructions!).
Heat transport
Determination of the heat transfer coefficient for a double-tube heat exchanger in co-current and counter-current operation.
Rectification
Determination of the theoretical plate number of a column with infinite and finite reflux ratios.
Adsorption
Determination of the breakthrough and saturation loading for the adsorption of CO2 from an H2 carrier gas stream on activated carbon for various operating parameters.
Absorption
Separation of CO2 from air in a packed column (determination of the separation efficiency as a function of various operating parameters).
Residence time behaviour
Determination of the residence time behaviour of a dye pulse in the flow tube, cont. stirred tank and in the reactor cascade.
Saponification
Investigation of the saponification of ethyl acetate; various reactors; comparison of the conversion in the flow tube with the conversions in the single vessel and in the stirred tank cascade.
Dehydration
Investigation of i-propanol dehydration in a flow tube.
Adiabatic tank reactor
Investigation of the autocatalytic hydrolysis of acetic anhydride.
