The Central German Catalysis Teaching Network (MDKL) is one of five active catalysis teaching networks under the umbrella of the German Catalysis Society (GeCatS) and is supported by DECHEMA. The MDKL is held as a 4-day course (29.09.-02.10.2025) at the University of Leipzig and covers the entire range of topics related to catalysis. It is aimed at students in higher semesters as well as doctoral and postdoctoral students. The course ends with a written final exam and can be integrated into structured doctoral training with 3 CP according to ECTS. Each participant receives a course certificate. The four best participants will also receive a prize.

We look forward to welcoming you to the Central German Catalysis Teaching Network at the Institute of Technical Chemistry at the University of Leipzig.

The course content is divided into the following four areas:

  • Introduction to catalysis
  • Heterogeneous, homogeneous and biological catalysis
  • Theory, kinetics and reactors
  • New concepts and data management in catalysis

On the first day of the course, a general introduction to the main topics of catalysis will be given. On the following days, the fundamentals of catalysis will be illustrated using selected examples. These will be presented by lecturers from universities and research institutions in central Germany, who will report on their activities in the field of catalysis. Representatives from industrial companies and NFDI4Cat will complement the course programme.

In addition to the technical content of the course, there will also be a get-together event on the first evening of the course for participants to get to know each other and network. Please indicate your participation when registering.
