Financial support from the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service): The monthly scholarship, which financially supports students who already obtained their B. Sc. (Chemistry), amounts to 825 €.

For students who are eligible for “Auslands-BAföG” (financial support in the framework of the Federal Training Assistance Act), a reduced DAAD scholarship will be a step-up to the expenses of their stay at Monash University.

Fixed monthly insurance allowance: 35 € (only valid for students who do not receive additional funding for their stay at Monash University).

Travelling allowance: 1350 €

Preparing your stay – a short checklist: 

  1. Book your flight – a comparative offer from FCM Travel Solutions (, Brühl 8, 04109 Leipzig, 0341 217830, leipzig(at) has to be obtained.
  2. Get the necessary insurances
  3. Have your passport valid for the whole duration of your stay – re-validate it before, if necessary!
  4. For your visit to Monash, you will require a visiting contract and a visa. In order to obtain a contract, you must send your CV containing your date of birth, nationality, home address and email address to the Monash Coordinator, Assoc. Prof. Katya Pas (e-mail: katya.pas(at) ). In your email please indicate the two supervisors, in whose groups you will conduct your lab courses. Your visiting contract will be organized by the Human Resources Department at Monash. Once approved, you will receive an email asking you to accept the terms of your contract and will provide necessary information about how to apply for an Australian visa. It takes 3 weeks for your contract to be approved and 2-4 weeks to be granted a visa.
