Application & Selection

Conditions, Application and Selection Criteria

Following an official call for applications and the ensuing entries of the corresponding year’s class in each faculty, two committees will determine the best applicants at each university. At both universities, this selection process usually takes place in April. The Leipzig committee consists of the Dean of Studies, the ISAP representative and a doctoral student who has previously taken part in ISAP. Objective criteria include the results and marks of the B. Sc. program and the prospective completion of the B. Sc. program after six months. Additionally, an interview with short-listed applicants allows for further assessment of motivation, perspectives and their command of English. Apart from these objective criteria, the personality of the applicants, including their social skills, their open-mindedness and their mastering of difficult situations, will be taken into consideration. Last but not least, the intended research specialization should match the partner university’s offers.
